About
Welcome to Margaret C. Ells Preschool. It is my privilege to serve as Principal of a school where each child is known by name, strengths, and story. Our mission is to provide a world-class start for our youngest learners through purposeful, developmentally appropriate teaching and strong partnerships with families.
At Ells, play is the vehicle for deep learning. Our classrooms combine a warm, predictable environment with intentional instruction aligned to Massachusetts early learning standards. Children build foundational skills in early literacy, oral language, and mathematics while developing self-regulation, empathy, and a strong sense of community.
We are steadfast in our commitment to equity. Classrooms are inclusive and culturally responsive; supports are proactive and tailored to individual needs. We honor and engage families as partners, offering clear communication and translation and interpretation services so every family can participate fully in school life.
Excellence in teaching is our core work. Educators use data to inform instruction, engage in ongoing coaching, and collaborate to ensure that every child experiences growth. We also emphasize daily attendance because consistent participation in high-quality early learning makes a measurable difference.
Our priorities are clear: readiness, relationships, and results. Readiness means children leave PreK confident and eager for kindergarten. Relationships mean trust between school and home that extends learning beyond the classroom. Results mean demonstrable progress for every child, celebrated and shared.
Margaret C. Ells is a welcoming community. I invite you to join a school event, sign up to be a volunteer, or read with us. Thank you for trusting us with these foundational years. Together, we are nurturing joyful readers, curious problem-solvers, and kind classmates, ready for the road ahead.
